Different situations can qualify

No Dutch salary yet? That does not automatically exclude you.

We have designed the application process around international residents. Students, interns and newly arrived expats may not yet have a Dutch payslip. Financial suitability can therefore be shown in several reliable ways.

Employment income

Salary or reliable professional income can support an application.

Savings or available funds

A sufficient account balance for the intended stay may be considered.

Scholarship or study funding

Scholarships, grants and recognised study funding can be relevant.

Family or third-party support

Reliable parental or other financial support may also be considered where appropriate.

What matters is whether the full stay is financially realistic and whether the applicant is a good fit for the household. Supporting documents are requested only when needed during the review.

Connected living

A private resident WhatsApp group for everyday house communication.

Current residents can be invited to a private WhatsApp group with management for practical coordination, shared-space updates and normal household communication. It makes it easier to meet the people you live with without turning the residence into an anonymous room rental.

Residents + management

Only current residents and management participate. The group is for practical communication; urgent incidents still go through the dedicated emergency contact.

Joining the WhatsApp group is handled transparently because group participants can see each other’s phone numbers.

A manager is reachable at all times for urgent incidents and emergencies. Routine requests are handled during normal service hours.

About your host

Five years of hosting experience, built into AmsterdamRoom.

For around five years, Gio has welcomed guests and learned first-hand what international students, expats, professionals and temporary residents actually need from a stay: clear communication, a clean and comfortable home, practical help when something goes wrong and the confidence that somebody is taking responsibility for the property.

AmsterdamRoom takes those lessons and turns them into a more structured managed-living concept: the flexibility and personal feel people appreciate from hosted accommodation, with more consistency, resident selection, household support, cleaning and clear rules already built in.

More than a typical Airbnb stay. Easier than arranging a traditional rental.

Guest experience

What years of guest feedback taught us

The AmsterdamRoom service model is shaped by recurring themes in real guest hosting: people want a stay that feels personal, reliable and easy.

01Clear communication

Fast, human contact before arrival and practical support during the stay.

02Comfort & cleanliness

A prepared room, linen, towels and regular cleaning without having to organise it yourself.

03Trust & responsibility

A managed household with selection, clear expectations and somebody accountable for the home.

Selection & safety

Three residents may arrive as strangers. We do not leave that combination to chance.

AmsterdamRoom is a small shared residence. Every stay request is personally reviewed before acceptance. We verify identity, look at the purpose and expected duration of the stay, discuss shared-living preferences and consider how a new resident fits with the household already in place.

The aim is simple: a home where people can meet each other while still feeling safe, respected and comfortable. Availability alone does not guarantee acceptance.

01Identity verification

Valid identity and contact details are verified before a stay can be confirmed.

02Purpose of stay

We ask why you are in Amsterdam and may request relevant supporting information.

03Personal intake

A short conversation helps us understand expectations, routine and shared-living preferences.

04Household compatibility

We consider the overall household balance using practical, behaviour-based criteria such as routine, privacy, visitors and use of shared spaces.

Clear house rules

Visitors are welcome, but the apartment remains controlled and residential.

Visitors must be announced in advance. Overnight visitors are limited to 2 nights per week and 6 nights per calendar month per room, and may not become additional residents.
