Residents know that the people sharing the home have also gone through the selection process.
You are not simply booking a room. You are joining a carefully managed household.
Three residents may arrive as complete strangers. We therefore do not leave the household composition to chance. Every stay request is reviewed personally with safety, trust, comfort and respectful shared living as the priority.
We look at the household as a whole, not only at each applicant in isolation.
A vacant room does not automatically mean an application is accepted.
A clear seven-step resident selection process
The process is designed to reduce uncertainty when people who have never met before share one home.
Send a stay request
Choose a room and dates and explain why you need temporary accommodation in Amsterdam. Availability alone does not create a booking.
Identity & contact verification
Before final acceptance we verify identity and contact details. Additional supporting information may be requested where reasonably needed.
Financial suitability
We check whether the intended stay is financially realistic. A Dutch salary is not the only way to qualify: income, savings, scholarships, grants or reliable family support may be considered depending on the situation.
Personal intake
A short telephone or video conversation may be used to understand expectations, communication and the reason for the stay.
Shared-living profile
We consider practical factors such as daily schedule, working from home, visitors, privacy preferences, tidiness and use of common spaces.
Household compatibility
With only three private rooms, every new resident affects the group. We review whether the combination is likely to remain safe, comfortable and respectful.
Rules & written confirmation
House rules, visitor limits, rate, dates and room conditions must be accepted before a stay is confirmed in writing.
International applicants do not all arrive with the same paperwork.
We are open to students, expats, interns and other temporary residents whose financial situation may differ from a standard Dutch employee. The question is whether the accommodation is financially realistic for the full intended stay.
You may still qualify without a current Dutch salary when you can provide suitable evidence of savings, scholarship or grant funding, parental or third-party support, expected employment income or another reliable source of funds.
The information requested depends on your circumstances. Do not send bank statements, identity documents or other sensitive documents through an open text field unless specifically requested through an appropriate process.
Built around international and temporary residents
These are examples, not a closed list. Applications are assessed individually and on household fit.
Different people can live very well together when the fundamentals match.
We are not trying to create three identical residents. We look for a balanced household in the broader sense: routines, communication, privacy, social expectations, visitor habits and respect for shared spaces need to work together.
Selection focuses on relevant practical and behavioural factors. Protected personal characteristics are not used as shortcuts for deciding who belongs in the residence.
Reason and duration of stay
Typical daily schedule
Working or studying from home
Social versus private household preference
Visitor expectations
Tidiness and shared-space habits
Communication and reliability
Willingness to follow house rules
Once accepted, residents can stay connected.
Current residents can be invited to a private WhatsApp group with management for everyday practical communication and coordination. The emergency contact remains separate for urgent situations.
WhatsApp group members can see one another’s phone numbers. Participation and the practical privacy implications are communicated before a resident is added.
Tell us about your stay, your situation and how you like to live.
Submitting a request starts the review. A room is reserved only after approval and written confirmation.
